Recommended Aromatherapy Books
All these are excellent books. They inform you how to create your own aromatherapy products, and include reference overviews, which describe benefits and applications of each essential oil. If you are seriously interested in aromatherapy, I suggest you get at least two of these.
Brief History of Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a fast growing therapy
in holistic medicine, although it's actually an ancient practice. In China,
Egypt and India the use of flowers, plants and their essences for healing
started tens of thousands of years ago. Today's aromatherapy practices are
most akin to those of the Egyptians -- and use infusion to extract the oils
from aromatic plants.
My 'Secret' Aromatherapy Blends
I often enhance my in-person Reiki sessions with a custom-made aroma therapy
blend in my essential oil burner. I tailored the aroma blend to each
treatment.
Among my trade 'secrets' are a few pre-mixed
'elixers' that I apply at times. As these blends are suitable* for home healing also, I thought
to share them with with you.
Two of the most popular healing essential
oil blends in my Reiki practice are a :'Mood lifting' aromatherapy
essential oil blend, and a 'Grounding & Balancing' aromatherapy
essential oils blend. What's in these blends?
1. MOOD LIFTING. You can create this blend by adding a few drops
of Rose, Clary Sage and Yllang Ylang. This blend encourages the release
of dopamine, a hormone that increases feelings of joy and happiness.
It has anti-depresssant qualitites to ease nervous tension, stress,
depression and grief. Its sedative qualities calms the nervous system
and relaxes body and mind.
|
2. GROUNDING AND BALANCING. The other popular blend consists
of the essential oils of Orange, Patchouli, Indian Neroli, Champa
& Rosewood.
Instructions to make essential oils:. You can add a few essential
oil drops to the water in your oil burner, to your massage oil, your car
aromatherapy diffuser, or your bath water. You can choose both of them as
a personal fragrance. You can pre-mix these essential oils by using a carrier
oil, or you can blend them for each use. Do what suits you best. -
